Mahé
Mahé may be the largest and most densely populated island in The Seychelles, but at only 17 miles long and 5 miles wide it is delightfully compact and easily explorable. The joy of Mahé is the variety it offers: glorious coastal scenery ranging from wild granite cliffs to tranquil palm-fringed bays, while inland are high hills and remote rainforest and throughout the island are small towns and a unique Creole culture.
There are over 60 wonderful beaches and coves fringing the island, ranging from sweeping bays of white sand to hidden corners to find for your own Robinson Crusoe experience.
On the stunningly beautiful northwest coast is popular Beau Vallon, which may be more developed than other areas but is still low key with a gorgeous beach spread across a huge bay along with calm, gentle waters.
Silhouette Island
Lying just over 12 miles off Mahe's western coast, Silhouette Island is the third largest in the Seychelles archipelago, yet despite its proximity to the main island, Silhouette is the most undeveloped and most remote of the Seychelles' inhabited islands.
Numerous mountain peaks dominate the seascape and their densely vegetated and forested slopes give way to spectacular beaches whose powdery white sands are dotted with huge granite boulders. Encircled by coral reefs, Silhouette is also a Marine National Park with an extravaganza of marine life including barracudas, rays, lionfish, hawksbill turtles, white-tip sharks and parrotfish, making it ideal for snorkelling as well as diving.
The interior of the island is also a national park, with some of the richest biodiversity in the entire Indian ocean.
