4 day Itinerary
Day 1 Khao Lak/Khao Sok: Early morning transfer. On arrival, enjoy a delicious buffet lunch before a relaxing canoe trip down the Sok River during which you can admire the rainforest and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife. Afterwards, head to the elephant park to learn about the elephant conservation project and have the chance to prepare and feed the elephants one of their daily meals, then watch them bathe. Return to camp for dinner.
Day 2 Khao Sok: Morning transfer to the west coast to board a speedboat and explore the mysterious maze of channels in the mangrove forest. Cruise through the channels to meet and board a classical Burmese junk, where lunch will be served, but not before you explore the nearby mangrove creek in a self-paddle canoe. En route back to camp there is a stop at a local market.
Day 3 Khao Sok/Cheow Larn Lake: Today you will explore Cheow Larn Lake by local longtail boat. This little-known, man-made lake is surrounded by limestone mountains and cliffs that rise up from the lake shore and is likened to Guilin in China or Halong Bay in Vietnam. After lunch at the Rainforest Camp there's time to swim in the lake before returning to the Elephant Camp.
Day 4 Khao Sok/Khao Lak: This morning take a guided hike through the jungle. It's an excellent opportunity to explore the ecology of one of the world's oldest rainforests, to see a great variety of exotic plants, trees, and ferns as well as watching out for wildlife. Weather dependent lunch will be served in the rainforest. Return to the Jungle Camp at around midday and then leave for the airport.

Located an hour's drive north of Phuket in mainland Phang Nga province, Khao Lak has long, long expanses of sandy beach bordered by the mountains of the surrounding national parks. It's not difficult to understand Khao Lak's appeal when you are greeted by unspoilt landscape of beaches, jungle-clad mountains, forested valleys, mangroves and estuaries. It's a place to take it easy, read a book and get back to nature, albeit with a few comforts!
Khao Lak's pristine beach area spans for some 18 miles from the Thap Lamu pier area in the south towards Bang Sak in the north. Nang Thong is considered the true centre of the Khao Lak area and is where the largest number of resorts and restaurants are found. Bang Niang beach, lying to the north of Nang Thong, is also popular but has a quieter feel, while further north Khuk Khak, Pakarang and Bang Sak areas have some excellent resorts and less crowded beaches.
Resplendent with rich natural attractions Khao Lak borders five spectacular national parks including Lam Ru National Park, a medley of sea cliffs, beaches, forested valleys and mangroves as well as the natural habitat of wildlife such as gibbons, tapirs and Asiatic black bears. Within the parks too there are many waterfalls to explore, including Lampi, Pakweep and Ton Prai, all of which offer refreshing pools for swimming.
Khao Lak is also a convenient departure point for a trip to the Similan Islands, a group of rocks and islands, which can be reached in about an hour by speedboat. The area was declared a national marine park in 1982 and the turquoise waters teem with colourful coral, exotic fish and sea mammals, making it a popular haunt for divers and snorkelers.
Restaurants and nightlife tend to centre around Bang Niang and Nang Thong Beach, and while Khao Lak is definitely not the place to come for those seeking a glitzy party scene, the selection of bars and restaurants give the opportunity to go out and meet fellow holidaymakers. La On is the main shopping, dining and nightlife hub of Nang Thong Beach and the strip of restaurants, bars and shops begin to come alive as the sun begins to set.

Established as a national park in 1980, Khao Sok National Park stretches for 250 square miles and is one of Asia's premier natural wonders. While much of the park is carpeted in verdant rainforest, it's also comprised of vast limestone mountains that dominate the view at every turn, deep valleys, tumbling waterfalls and breathtakingly beautiful lakes. The park is filled with an incredible array of wildlife such as wild elephant, monkeys, gibbons, bears, porcupine and deer; many of which are quite elusive. Reptiles and insects are in abundance along with several species of bird, including the hornbill, and rare flora including the world's largest flower Rafelesia.
The Elephant Camp at Elephant Hills is Thailands first luxury tented camp and sits on the edge of KhaoSok National Park with its dramatic scenery as a backdrop. The symphony of the birds and animals calling each morning is an ideal alarm clock to rouse you for the day’s activities which may include a canoe safari, jungle trek or memorable elephant experience. Return to camp and enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool, a cooling drink from the bar and perhaps even a quick nap in the hammock outside your tent before dinner and the evening activities.
Each tour includes buffet meals during which you get to share the day’s adventures with fellow guests. Evening activities at the Elephant Camp also include cookery demonstrations and dance performances from local schools.
With animal welfare and conservation at the heart of what they do, Elephant Hills has received numerous awards and accolades from worldwide associations such as Global Spirit and National Geographic.
