For isolated beaches, prime dive spots and jagged mountains dripping with rainforest, Krabi's got it.

Nestling majestically beside the Andaman Sea, Krabi is one of Thailand’s most attractive provinces. It’s where small islands erupt from the sea and secluded bays, beaches and coves are only accessibly by colourful longtail boats.

Popular Ao Nang is the centre of Krabi’s tourist scene.  A mix of beaches, bars, restaurants and tourist shops, it’s a great base for water-related activities and excursions to off-shore islands. Fifteen minutes north are Klong Muang’s powdery sands where the well-established village has a few shops and simple restaurants.

Accessible only by boat, Phra Nang and Railay are Krabi’s star offerings. Sparkling waters and pretty beaches are backed by proper jungle and monkeys frolic as rock-climbers of all abilities scale the limestone crags. For those fascinated by life below the waves, Krabi has over 30 dive sites and countless snorkelling spots with flourishing coral reefs.

In Krabi Town, while away an hour or two in a cosy cafe, or follow the riverside walkway to the fishing port, where restaurants specialise in seafood.

These islands were made famous after featuring in the film "The Beach". The two main tree covered islets are Phi Phi Don, which boasts several white beaches ideal for swimming and Phi Phi Ley, which is home to thousands of swallows, which nest in the Viking Cave. Like any idyllic setting, it is a magnet for daytrippers – it is beautiful, but busy!

Phi Phi's beaches are the jewels in its crown with white sands sheltered by soaring limestone cliffs to form spectacular scenery. Laem Tong is an enchanting spot in the northeast perfect for a relaxing holiday, and as the only access to the main part of Phi Phi is by boat, you have almost total seclusion.

The waters surrounding the Phi Phi Islands teem with colourful coral gardens and exotic marine life, including docile leopard sharks, making snorkelling and diving day trips an alternative to lounging on the beach. You may also wish to head up to the Phi Phi Viewpoint at the southern end of the island, where the reward for the short, rather strenuous hike is amazing vistas of the breathtaking rock formations and aquamarine bays. Other activities include kayaking, rock climbing and even cliff jumping!

Phi Phi Ley is where you'll find stunning Maya Bay which featured in  "The Beach", (currently closed indefinitely for coral conservation), while another notable island site, Viking Cave, is famous for providing the raw materials for birds nest soup.

Ton Sai Village's maze of streets house a variety of local shops and stalls sure to satisfy any shopping cravings, there's also a plethora of restaurants serving everything from seafood and sushi to curry and steak. Despite its relatively small size nightlife on Phi Phi is surprisingly vibrant and diverse; centring around Ton Sai Village there is much to enjoy from beach bars to boxing matches or simply dining out beneath the stars.
