Napa Valley 2 nights
Day 1 San Francisco/Napa Valley: Collect your hire car and head north for about an hour to the Napa Valley, long considered California's most famous wine region. Boasting more than 400 wineries, quaint towns, outdoor activities aplenty, shopping, museums, art walks, fine food, music and nightlife, there's much to see and do.
Day 2 Napa Valley: With more than 400 wineries in the region, choosing which to visit will depend on where you stay and the type of experience you're seeking. For a quintessential Napa experience, follow the Silverado Trail, a two-lane country road, trimmed with shady oaks and world-class vineyards. Enjoy the drive along this scenic route, or rent a bike and pedal between the wineries! Organised tours are plentiful and include the Napa Valley Wine Trolley and Napa Valley Wine Train. There are also several museums for exploring local history, art walks in the city of Napa and Yountville, championship golf courses and hiking trails through stunning state parks.
Day 3 Napa Valley/San Francisco: Before leaving, why not book a hot air balloon ride. It's a unique and inspiring way to appreciate the valley's lush, rolling hills and gorgeous coastline. Most launch just after dawn and float up in the air as the golden Californian sunshine spreads across the valley. Return to San Francisco where your tour concludes. Alternatively, carry on to Yosemite or down the coast?
