Day 1: Fly to Philadelphia. On arrival make your way to your hotel.
Day 2 Philadelphia: Sights to see include Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and numerous wonderful museums.
Day 3 Philadelphia/Gettysburg: Collect your hire car and head west. You may wish to stop in Lancaster in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country and home of the Amish. Continue to Gettysburg, site of the biggest Civil War battle and where Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address (140 miles).
Day 4 Gettysburg/Shenandoah National Park: Perhaps take a Battlefield tour or visit the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum before driving south to Shenandoah. This scenic jewel rises atop Virginia's Appalachians and contains a wide array of flora and fauna (150 miles).
Day 5 Shenandoah National Park/Roanoke: Drive along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway to Roanoke, which lies in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Vibrant Roanoke is the cultural hub of the region and a treasure trove of unique shopping and eclectic restaurants (110 miles).
Day 6 Roanoke/Asheville: Continue your journey along the glorious Blue Ridge Parkway towards Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. There are numerous stopping points along the way to take in the panoramic vistas or perhaps follow one of the many trails (244 miles).
Day 7 Asheville: This city's setting on the doorstep of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park ensures you have ample time to explore. There are beautiful hiking trails, picturesque drives and outdoor adventures aplenty for thrill-seekers.
Day 8 Asheville/Winston-Salem: Head further west into North Carolina to Winston-Salem, a city rich in history and culture (145 miles).
Day 9 Winston-Salem/Virginia Beach: Your journey continues as you drive east towards the coast and Virginia's premier port city, Virginia Beach (280 miles)
Day 10 Virginia Beach: With 35 miles of sandy beaches, a three mile oceanfront boardwalk and nearby activities, it's no surprise that Virginia Beach is a prime tourist destination. If you're not content to simply laze or stroll, attractions include the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Centre, Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and First Landing State Park.
Day 11 Virginia Beach/Washington, DC: Travel north to the nation's capital. This monumental city is brimming with grand government buildings, characterful districts, memorials and vast museums (221 miles).
Day 12 Washington, DC: A full day to cram in as many of the city's sights as you can. Take a peek at the White House and the Capitol Building, stroll the National Mall where many of the major monuments and memorials can be found; or head to the magnificent Smithsonian Institution where museums and galleries are located.
Day 13 Washington, DC/New York City: Perhaps stroll around historic Georgetown or visit the fascinating Newseum before you hit the road once more. Your final destination is the Big Apple, where you will drop off your car and make your way to your hotel (225 miles).
Day14 New York City: Top sights include the Empire State Building, Central Park, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Brooklyn Bridge and the Rockefeller Centre. This evening, why not take in a Broadway show?
Day 15 New York City: Time for some final sightseeing and shopping before making your way to the airport where your tour concludes.
