Asheville 3 nights
Day 1 Charlotte/Asheville: Collect your car and head west to the wonderfully diverse Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which straddles the border between North Carolina and Tennessee. World-renowned for its plant and animal life, the beauty of its ancient mountains and the quality of its remnants of Southern Appalachian mountain culture, this is America's most visited national park. Your home for the next three nights is the historic Omni Grove Park Inn, which sits amidst the beauty of Asheville.
Day 2 Asheville: At leisure. You may wish to enjoy some of the resort activities at the hotel which include an amazing spa, a sports complex with an indoor fitness centre and family pool along with a seasonal outdoor pool, a legendary 18 hole golf course and six tennis courts. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is around 35 miles from the hotel, so you're within easy reach of the endless hiking and cycling trails, fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities. Your hardest decision will be which trail to opt for, so consider what you would like to see, be it waterfalls, old-growth forests or jaw-dropping views. If you have children with you, there are several family-friendly routes which ensure all ages can enjoy the great outdoors.
Day 3 Asheville: At leisure. Today we highly recommend taking a drive along part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, which connects The Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. The route stretches for some 469 miles, however it's possible to explore just a few miles and find yourself amongst stunning vistas, mountain meadows, old farms, historic attractions and diverse flora and fauna. Perhaps make a stop in downtown Asheville and stroll through its vibrant entertainment hub, which brims with independent shops, craft breweries and farm-fresh eateries.
Day 4 Asheville/Charlotte: A final morning to enjoy more of the resort's activities and amenities before you return to Charlotte and your tour concludes. Alternatively, continue to explore South Carolina or experience the music and culinary delights of Tennessee.
