Rockies Encounter & Alaskan Cruise

Day 1.

Arrive Calgary, Banff. Be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Banff. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to relax in your hotel or explore Banff.

Two Night Stay: Banff Park Lodge.

Day 2.

Banff Sightseeing. Today take a ride on the scenic Banff Gondola and enjoy incredible views of the Canadian Rockies. With the rest of the day then at leisure, perhaps visit the famous Fairmont Banff Springs, or participate in a Banff Experience (own expense). Tonight, enjoy the ‘Oh Canada Eh!’ Theatre Dinner Show in nearby Canmore.

Day 3.

Banff, Lake Louise. This morning after breakfast, travel to world-famous Lake Louise, in Banff National park. This is a tranquil lake renowned for its captivating turquoise waters, and breathtaking alpine backdrop. On arrival, check into The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, which overlooks the lake. This evening enjoy a delicious dinner at your hotel.

Stay: Lake Louise, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Day 4.

Columbia Icefield, Jasper National Park. Travel along the spectacular Icefield Parkway. Stop at the Columbia Icefield for an unforgettable ride in an Ice Explorer onto Athabasca Glacier. Then travel past Sunwapta Pass and see glacier-fed Peyto Lake, with its azure waters like Lake Louise. Later, arrive in the peaceful community of Jasper.

Stay: Jasper, Tonquin Inn.

Day 5.

Mount Robson, Sun Peaks. Re-enter British Columbia, and follow the famous Yellowhead Highway. Pass Mount Robson, which is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. In the afternoon arrive in Sun Peaks, known for its virgin forests, alpine meadows, mountain lakes and crystal-clear streams. Check into your lodge in this popular mountain retreat, before dinner at a local Italian restaurant.

Stay: Sun Peaks, Hearthstone Lodge.

Day 6.

Whistler. Today you’ll depart Sun Peaks and follow the tracks of the early gold rush pioneers as you travel through the rugged Caribou region. Enter the Coast Mountain Range for your stay in the famous alpine resort of Whistler, a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts around the world. This evening, take the opportunity to experience the vibrant nightlife in Whistler.

Stay: Aava Whistler Hotel.

Day 7.

Georgia Strait, Victoria. From Whistler, perhaps take a floatplane flight (own expense) and witness the incredible views of Georgia Strait, before arriving in Victoria around midday. Then enjoy ample time at leisure to explore attractive capital city of British Columbia. Alternatively, return to the coast to board your ferry and cruise across Georgia Strait. Arrive on Vancouver Island and then continue on to Victoria.

Two Night Stay: Victoria, Queen Victoria Hotel and Suites.

Day 8.

Victoria Sightseeing. This morning is yours to spend at leisure. Perhaps take a whale-watching cruise in search of orcas, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage tour or visit the Empress Hotel for an English morning tea (all at own expense). This afternoon, visit Butchart Gardens and enjoy time to explore the exquisite floral displays that have been delighting visitors for over 100 years. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner within the gardens before boarding your Holland America Line cruise tomorrow.

Day 9.

Victoria, Vancouver, Holland America Line Cruise. Today, 9 Day passengers depart the tour with a transfer to the airport. Remaining passengers board your Holland America Line cruise ship and settle into your stateroom. Familiarise yourself with the ship’s excellent facilities as you sail north to the Inside Passage and the famous icefields of Canada and Alaska.

Day 10.

Inside Passage. Enjoy a full day at sea at the commencement of your journey along the Alaska Panhandle and coastal British Columbia. Relax and absorb the incredible scenery as your ship wends its way past rocky headlands and glides over the frigid waters of the Inside Passage, or perhaps explore the amenities of your ship.

Day 11.

Juneau. This afternoon your cruise ship arrives in Juneau, Alaska’s pretty capital. Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, and with the massive Mendenhall Glacier and Juneau Icefields at its back door, Juneau is a place to let your imagination run wild. This afternoon, you might like to experience a dog sled ride over a glacier, sample salmon baked over a fire or pan for gold (own expense).

Day 12.

Skagway. Today you’ll check in to the port of Skagway, at the northernmost point of the Inside Passage. Skagway’s history as a frontier town and gateway for the gold rush is still evident. During free time today, discover what gold prospecting was like or perhaps take in the wildlife (own expense).

Day 13.

Glacier Bay. This morning you wake up to the breathtaking sight of Glacier Bay National Park with its rivers of ice and sky-scraping peaks. As you cruise through the national park, it is easy to see why the area has received World Heritage status. Today, rangers will come aboard your ship to explain the geological wonders you’ll see and point out the diverse wildlife and marine mammals.

Day 14.

Ketchikan. Ketchikan is known as the salmon capital of the world, so perhaps join a walking tour of the town with a visit to the fishing harbour.

Day 15.

Inside Passage. Heading south through the Inside Passage, watch the majestic landscape slip by.

Day 16.

Depart Vancouver. Arrive in Vancouver and disembark after breakfast. Enjoy time at leisure before your airport transfer.
