Geography: 7107 islands scattered in the South China Sea to the west and the Philippine Sea to the east. The islands are spread over an area of over 115 square miles and house a population of just under 80 million who are predominantly Christian in religion. The population of Cebu, in the south, is around 3 million.

Language: Filipino, but English is widely spoken. Passports: You will need a full British passport valid for a minimum of six months beyond your date of return.

Visas: British passport holders do not require a visa for stays of 21 days. Non-British passport holders should check with relevant embassy for documentation requirements.

Vaccinations: Vaccinations are strongly recommended. For further information, please consult your doctor.

Travelling time: There are no direct flights to Manila or Cebu. Travel is via Asian or Middle East cities. 17 hours including stopover.

Currency: Peso.

Departure tax: 550 Pesos for international, 100 Pesos for domestic.
