The smallest of the seven Emirates, Ajman lies just north of Dubai and offers a relaxed beach escape, with luxury hotels, uncrowded white sands and plentiful watersports. The lively Corniche and Ajman Marina are ideal for strolling and dining, while Ajman Museum, housed in an 18th-century fort, offers a fascinating glimpse into the emirate’s heritage. Nature lovers can kayak through Al Zorah National Reserve, home to mangroves, lagoons and abundant birdlife. Families can enjoy Funtastico, while shoppers can explore traditional souks. Further afield, mountainous Masfout offers cooler temperatures, hiking and spectacular scenery.

Best time to go
Ajman is a year-round destination as sunshine is virtually guaranteed whatever the month. Between December to February temperatures average in the mid-20sºC, rising up into the 30s from March to April and again from October to November. While the scorching temperatures between May-September may be too much for some (usually in excess of 40ºC), it’s one of the few destinations when it’s cheaper to visit during our school summer holidays, whether travelling with children or not.

Flights from the UK to Dubai take around 7 hours, it’s then a 30-45 minute drive to Ajman.
