Alderney is the second largest island of Guernsey, yet only measures three and a half miles long. At its centre is St Anne, the quiet inland capital, an attractive little town with pastel coloured houses lining the cobbled streets and a range of interesting shops. On such a compact island, it's easy to explore the island's diverse landscape on foot or by bike. And, if your idea of relaxation is to laze on a beach listening to the sea, then grab your towel, book and sun cream and head for one of the enticing and delightfully uncrowded sandy beaches.
Herm, Sark and Alderney make for a fantastic short break with April to October arguably being the best time to go.
No visa needed for UK travellers.
Direct flights to Alderney are available from Southampton. Alternatively, flights are available via Guernsey with an onwards 15 minute flight to Alderney.
