The tropical city of Cairns is the gateway to Far North Queensland and an ideal base for exploring some of Australia's most spectacular natural attractions. From Cairns Marlin Marina, full-day Great Barrier Reef tours offer the chance to discover colourful coral reefs and marine life. The Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway provide a memorable journey into the rainforest, while Green Island and the Daintree Rainforest are also within easy reach. Although Cairns itself does not have a beach, the Esplanade Lagoon offers a large outdoor saltwater swimming pool in the heart of the city, while beautiful beaches including Trinity Beach, Kewarra Beach and Palm Cove are around a 30-minute drive away.
