The little village of Mirissa is renowned as the whale watching capital of Sri Lanka, where blue and sperm whales are often spotted remarkably close to shore. Boat trips run between November and April, offering unforgettable encounters with these gentle giants, as well as the chance to see dolphins playing in the waves. Mirissa boasts a laid-back charm with palm-fringed beaches, vibrant cafés and stunning sunsets from Coconut Tree Hill.
