Mozambique beckons with an endless coastline of palms, white sands and turquoise waters, alongside pristine coral reefs, remote archipelagos and rich culture. Maputo, one of Africa's most attractive capitals, charms with Mediterranean-style architecture, waterside avenues, lively markets and a bustling fish market said to serve East Africa's best seafood. Nearby Machangulo offers secluded fishing, diving and snorkelling, while the idyllic Bazaruto Archipelago boasts world-class dive sites and untouched surroundings perfect for unwinding. Mozambique pairs perfectly with a South Africa safari for one unforgettable holiday.
A selection of our most popular touring itineraries including Mozambique.
Mozambique has a warm tropical climate with a dry season from April-November and wet season from December-March. The dry season is considered the best time to visit with plenty of sun and little rain. However, while the humidity can be high during the wet season the rain tends to be confined to afternoon downpours.
The most popular way to visit Mozambique is as an add-on to a South Africa holiday. Flights from Johannesburg to Pemba are about 3 hours and Vilanculos is approx 2¼ hours. For a standalone Mozambique holiday, UK flights are also available.
