The northernmost Emirate of the UAE is also its most picturesque. Surrounded by sea, desert and mountains this land boasts a plethora of white beaches, blue sea, lush green plains, a series of creeks and lagoons, thermal springs, rugged mountains and red dunes. Ras Al Khaimah's relatively undiscovered beaches are sublime stretches of sun-kissed sands bordering the lovely warm waters of the Arabian Gulf. The private beaches belonging to the resort hotels are particularly hard to beat and many boast natural lagoons where all manner of watersports can be enjoyed from parasailing to banana boat rides and jet skiing, along with snorkelling and diving.
Ras Al Khaimah enjoys virtually guaranteed year-round sunshine. Between December to February temperatures average in the mid-20sºC, rising up into the 30s from March to April and again from October to November. While the scorching temperatures between May-September may be too much for some (usually in excess of 40ºC), it’s one of the few destinations when it’s cheaper to visit during our school summer holidays.
For Ras Al Khaimah, fly from the UK to Dubai which takes approximately 7 hours. It is then 45 minutes drive from Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah.
