Best time to go
Fiordland can be visited year-round; however the weather is changeable in this remote region, and it has the highest rainfall in New Zealand. This simply makes the waterfalls more spectacular.
Travel Information
The township of Te Anau is gateway to the Fiordland National Park and around a 2-hour drive from Queenstown. Milford Sound is accessed via a drive along the spectacular Milford Road, Doubtful Sound is accessed from Manapouri, where guests board a boat across Lake Manapouri to West Arm.

We can book guided tours departing from Queenstown, or Te Anau as day trips. Scenic flights are available from Queenstown.
There is no road access to Doubtful Sound, and we recommend booking a guided tour or an overnight cruise experience.
Fiordland is one of the wettest places in the world, Milford Sound gets around 23 feet of rain annually. The rain makes for truly spectacular waterfalls.
