Best time to go
Ngorongoro Crater offers excellent wildlife viewing throughout the year thanks to its resident animal population. The dry season from June to October is particularly popular, while the green season from November to May brings lush scenery, migratory birds and fewer visitors. The crater's unique ecosystem makes it one of Africa's most rewarding safari destinations in any season.

Many international visitors require a visa to enter Tanzania. E-visas are available for many nationalities and should be arranged before travel where applicable.
Travel Information
Ngorongoro Crater is located in northern Tanzania, approximately three hours from Arusha. The area is accessible via Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and forms part of Tanzania's famous northern safari circuit, often combined with the Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park. Most visitors explore the region as part of a guided safari.
