In the Straits of Malacca on Malaysia's west coast lies the privately owned island of Pangkor Laut. Occupied solely by the Pangkor Laut Resort, this truly tropical isle has pristine silver sands and clear blue waters fringed by an ancient rainforest. Of the island's 300 acres, only a fraction has been developed to house the resort, so if you can bear to leave the comfort of your sunbed you'll find a wilderness awaiting exploration.
GMT +8 hours
There are no direct flights from the UK to Pangkor Laut. From Kuala Lumpur it is 4 hours by road to Marina Island (or 2 hours 40 minutes by road from Penang) and then 15 minutes from the jetty to the resort by speedboat.
Pangkor Laut is a year round destination with high temperatures and rainfall fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. Any downpours tend to last for no more than an hour or two.
A tourism charge is payable locally at all hotels throughout Malaysia. Details will be advised at the time of booking.
