Alberta showcases the best of the Canadian Rockies, with turquoise lakes, snow-capped peaks and the striped Badlands offering a striking palette of colours. Explore charming mountain towns like Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper for hiking, skiing and endless outdoor adventure, or discover dinosaur fossils at UNESCO-listed Dinosaur Provincial Park. For urban energy, head to Calgary or Edmonton, both buzzing with festivals and vibrant culinary scenes. Whether you're chasing mountain adventure or city culture, Alberta's dramatic landscapes and diverse experiences make it a must-visit destination for awe-inspiring Canadian scenery.
Unless winter sports appeal, the best time to visit Alberta is May to September when you can expect sunny days and pleasant temperatures. Spring (late April to early June) can also be delightful as gradual snow melt reveals forests, wildflowers and the wildlife begins to emerge. September marks the start of Autumn with spectacular foliage which lasts into October.
Lake Louise is about 40 minutes drive from Banff or 2 hours from Calgary.
