Estimated at 130 million years old, Taman Negara is one of the world's oldest tropical rainforests and one of the largest protected areas in Southeast Asia.Sprawling across 1,677 square miles the park brims with towering trees, verdant jungle, fast-flowing rivers and sky-high peaks all of which provide a haven for a rich variety of wildlife, including rare mammals. While sightings of elephants, tigers and leopards are scarce, you'll be compensated by the song of insects and birds, tropical flora and, with luck, may well spy lizards, deer, snakes and even monkeys swinging between branches.
Taman Negara has a hot and humid climate with an abundance of sunshine making it a year-round destination. Temperatures range between 26-35;C during the day and 24-29;C at night. From mid-November until February the monsoon season often brings rain, usually in the late afternoon or evening.
